Your Memory: What’s normal, what’s not and what to do about it
10:30 am – 1:00 pm (including lunch)
Did you know that, statistically, people fear dementia more than death? And no wonder. With 10,000 people in the US every day turning 75, and living longer than ever before, worries about memory are at the forefront of many people’s minds. People want to know:
- What is the difference between typical age-related memory loss and something more serious?
- What are the signs that I should start being concerned about my memory?
- Are there things I can do now to strengthen my memory?
- Are there lifestyle changes I can make now that will improve my memory?
Dr. Maureen O’Connor, co-author of the new book Seven Steps to Managing your Memory, will provide the answers to these and other relevant questions, in a comprehensive presentation. She will review what is normal, age-related memory loss, what is not, and what you can do about it. She’ll share learnings from her research and her clinical experience that can help you understand how to manage your memory.

WHAT LIFE’S REALLY LIKE AT A CCRC
9:00 am – 10:30 am (with Coffee and Danish)
LOSS OF FREEDOM? TOO MANY RULES?
I DON’T THINK A CCRC IS RIGHT FOR ME.
If you are like many people, you may think a retirement community is not for you. But if you cherish your freedom and independence; if you are a forward thinker and a planner, you may be surprised. Listen to a panel of residents talk about their assumptions, their expectations and the reality of how independent and care free life at Birch Hill really is. Come learn how our residents handled concerns exactly like your own.
A lively Q and A and a delicious luncheon will follow the presentation.
